bwa represents the Mabel Lucie Attwell Estate. As Mabel Lucie Attwell’s great grandson bwa partner Webster Wickham is the brand licensor responsible for managing copyright issues related to this well known British illustrator.

Mabel Lucie Attwell (4 June 1879 – 5 November 1964) was known for her cute, nostalgic drawings of children, based on her daughter, Peggy. Her work was published across a huge range of media, widely used for national advertising campaigns for London Underground to the war effort, as well as magazines such as Tatler and famous classic children’s stories including Peter Pan, The Waterbabies, Alice in Wonderland and Grimm’s fairy tales. She also wrote and illustrated a set of six children’s books introducing the Boo Boos – popular elf-like characters whose appealing antics and adventures are told in a collector’s series of six A6 books.

Mabel Lucie Attwell was an illustrator with an ability to communicate – uniquely appealing to adults as well as children. Her messages are from the ‘mouths of toddlers but directed to the sophisticated and regulated adult world’. Motherhood was the inspiration for her life and career.

Please email Webster if you would like to discuss licensing of Mabel Lucie Attwell's work.
